| Obverse description | Persian king or royal hero depicted in kneeling-running stance to right, rendered in the Achaemenid court style. The figure wears a distinctive kidaris (royal tiara) and a belted garment with a flowing skirt, and draws a strung bow held at full tension. The musculature and posture are rendered with considerable vigour within a beaded border. |
