| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed and draped bust of Bosporan king Sauromates I facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic tradition with flowing hair indicated by fine engraved lines beneath the diadem. The bust is shown with a simple draped garment, the folds of which are visible at the truncation. A circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading ΒΑϹΙΛΕΩϹ ϹΑΥΡΟΜΑΤΟΥ (of King Sauromates), distributed around the full circumference of the coin field. |
