Obverse description The bearded male deity, identified as Baaltars (Baal of Tarsus), is depicted seated facing, enthroned on a high-backed chair with ornate legs, his muscular torso bare and his lower body draped. He extends his right hand forward bearing an eagle perched upon a bunch of grapes, while his raised left hand holds a scepter topped with an eagle finial. A cluster of grapes hangs below the outstretched arm in the left field, and Aramaic legends appear to the right and in the lower left field, reading the name of the city and the satrap Mazaeus.
