The bull, on the right, faces left with a lowered head and similarly detailed musculature. The two animals meet at center, occupying the full width of the roughly oval flan with no inscriptions or border. The composition is characteristic of the royal Lydian coinage attributed to the reign of Kroisos, representing one of the earliest and most artistically accomplished struck gold coinages of the ancient world. |
