The ram's horn of Ammon curls subtly above the ear, asserting Alexander's divine lineage and association with the Egyptian deity Zeus-Ammon. The diadem, symbol of royal authority, is tied around the head with its ends visible behind the neck. The portrait is executed in high relief with fine engraving, filling the broad flan with commanding presence. |

A long transverse spear rises diagonally behind her in the field. The royal legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ is disposed to the right of the throne. A monogram appears to the inner left, the civic ethnic ΒΥ is inscribed below the throne identifying the Byzantion mint, and an ornate trident — the civic badge of Byzantion — occupies the exergue. |
