| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, rendered in high relief in the fine Hellenistic style. The goddess wears a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, adorned with a prominent transverse crest and a coiled serpent on the bowl. Flowing locks of hair curl freely beneath the helmet and fall onto the neck, framing the finely modelled profile. The facial features are rendered with exceptional artistry, characteristic of the Macedonian royal mint tradition. |
