No legend appears on the obverse, the entire field being devoted to the imposing effigy of the deity. The flan is slightly irregular, as is characteristic of hammered gold staters of this series. |

She extends her left arm forward to present a laurel wreath, while her right arm is lowered at her side; she is clad in a chiton with finely engraved drapery folds. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically downward along the right field. In the lower left field appears the mint control letter Α, serving as a mint or magistrate symbol. The composition is characteristic of the standard Alexandrine gold stater type struck across the eastern Mediterranean during the late reign of Alexander III. |
