Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet adorned with a prominent crested plume and decorated cheek-guards, the neck-guard elaborately rendered with detailed feather or scale ornamentation. The goddess's hair flows in loose locks beneath the helmet onto her neck, and her facial features are rendered with fine classical workmanship. The field is plain, and the flan retains the characteristic irregular, slightly convex form of a hammered gold stater of the Macedonian series.
