Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet adorned with a coiled serpent and elaborate crest. The cheek-pieces of the helmet are raised, and the goddess's hair falls in fine curls along her neck. The portrait is rendered in high relief with exceptional detail, characteristic of the finest Macedonian die-cutting of the late 4th century BC. The field is plain, with no additional devices or legend.
