Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet adorned with a coiled serpent on the bowl and a decorative crest. The goddess's facial features are rendered in fine Hellenistic style, with delicate modeling of the cheek, nose, and chin. Wavy locks of hair escape from beneath the helmet and fall along the neck. A small earring is visible below the helmet rim. The field to the right is plain, typical of the Alexandrine stater type.

Reverse description Nike, the winged goddess of Victory, depicted standing facing left in flowing drapery with large spread wings rising behind her. She holds a wreath extended in her right hand and a stylis (naval standard) in her left, the latter being a distinctive feature of the Abydos mint. Two small symbols — identifiable as mint control marks — appear in the lower field to left and right. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically along the right field, identifying the issue as being in the name of Alexander.
