| Obverse description | Diademed male head in right profile, identified as Asander, King of the Bosporan Kingdom, rendered in fine Hellenistic style. The hair is elaborately dressed with wavy locks falling behind the ear and bound by a royal diadem. The facial features are carefully modeled with a straight nose, well-defined jaw, and a calm, regal expression characteristic of Hellenistic dynastic portraiture. The portrait occupies the full field of the flan with no visible legend on the obverse. |
