Veiled and laureate head of Demeter facing left, rendered in fine high relief with naturalistic modeling typical of late Classical Greek coinage. The goddess wears a laurel wreath over her veil, whose drapery folds fall gracefully along the right side of the flan. Her hair is arranged in loose, wavy curls escaping beneath the veil. The portrait exhibits the sensitive, idealized style associated with the Phokian die-cutting tradition of the mid-4th century BC. The field is plain and unlettered. |

Apollo seated left on the omphalos, depicted nude save for a himation draped over his lap, holding a laurel branch in his raised right hand. To the left stands a large kithara (lyre). The omphalos, the sacred stone of Delphi, is rendered with its characteristic netted or studded surface. The ethnic legend ΑΜΦΙΚΤΙΟΝΩΝ is inscribed in two lines flanking the figure on the left and below in the exergue area, identifying the issuing authority as the Amphictyonic League. The composition reflects the Delphic sanctuary's iconographic tradition, emphasizing Apollo's role as the god of the oracle at Delphi. |
