| Reverse description | Incuse impression of the same tripod cauldron type as the obverse, sunk into the flan in mirror relief as is characteristic of the South Italian incuse coinage tradition. The legs, lion's paw feet, handles, and rising serpents are all rendered in intaglio, producing a deeply recessed design of considerable technical precision. A radiating or rayed border frames the incuse field, providing a decorative outer limit to the composition. No inscription or ethnic appears on the reverse, in keeping with the standard practice of Krotonian staters of this early archaic series. |
