Obverse description Apple or quince shown in high relief facing, with a short stem and calyx visible at the top, the fruit rendered in a naturalistic style with two lobes flanking a central ridge. The design fills the flan and is rendered in bold, sculptural relief characteristic of Cycladic coinage of the late 5th century BC. The field is plain and unlettered. The irregular flan edges are typical of hand-struck Greek silver coinage of this period.
