Obverse description Two nude male wrestlers depicted in vigorous combat, facing one another in the center of the field, their muscular bodies rendered in high relief with considerable anatomical detail characteristic of the Classical Greek style. The left figure lunges forward, grasping his opponent's arm and torso, while the right figure braces against him with legs bent and feet planted firmly on a ground line. Each wrestler holds a pair of halteres (jumping weights) in his lowered hands, a distinctive feature of Aspendian wrestling coinage. The scene is enclosed within a plain border of dots, filling the flan with dynamic energy and fine die engraving.
