The bird is enclosed within a wreath of olive branches, their leaves naturalistically depicted encircling the entire field. The magistrate's name or ethnic legend ΜΙΒΥΡΤΙΟ is inscribed in Greek characters in the upper field above the dove, within the wreath border. The overall composition is well-centred and executed in the high-relief style characteristic of Sikyonian coinage of the fourth century BC. |
