The rim of the shield is articulated into twelve equal segments, delineated by short radial incisions, conveying the layered construction of the actual leather-and-bronze prototype. The surface of the shield boss is slightly convex and unadorned, occupying the central field. The striking is irregular in outline, as is typical of early Boeotian hammered coinage. |
