Obverse description A griffin with a prominent pointed wing is depicted in a seated posture facing left, its leonine body rendered in fine archaic relief with carefully engraved feather detailing along the folded wing. The creature rests upon a tunny fish oriented to the left, a distinctive emblematic device characteristic of Kyzikene electrum coinage and symbolic of the city's close association with the sea and the tunny trade. The griffin's head is turned to face left, with an open beak and alert, stylized eye rendered in the archaic Greek artistic tradition. The flan is irregular and convex, typical of early electrum stater production, with the design occupying the full available field. No inscriptions or legends are present on this face.
