| Popis líce | Nude male youth depicted in the act of dismounting from a horse rearing to the right; the figure faces left, gripping the horse's back with his left hand while brandishing a whip in his upraised right hand. The scene is rendered in fine archaic-to-early classical style, with the horse's musculature and the youth's athletic form conveying vigorous movement. The field is plain, with no inscription on this side. |

Kelenderis was a Cilician coastal city whose coinage from this period is notable for an unusually consistent series of horse-and-rider types, but the deeper interest lies in what the mint's output tells us about Cilician autonomy under loose Achaemenid suzerainty. Persian administrative control over the region was real but indirect; local dynasts and cities retained striking rights, and Kelenderis exercised them with enough regularity to produce a recognizable and datable sequence. The SNG Levante reference situates this piece within a well-documented Cilician cabinet, one of the more reliable anchors for attribution in a region where die studies remain incomplete.
