The rider grasps a whip in his raised right hand, conveying dynamic movement characteristic of the Kelenderis mint's accomplished die-cutting tradition. The composition is rendered in high relief with naturalistic attention to musculature of both horse and rider. The scene fills the flan in a vigorous, confident style consistent with the finest Cilician silver coinage of the early fourth century BC. |
