| Obverse description | A nude youth is depicted in the act of dismounting from a rearing horse, the animal shown in right profile with forelegs raised. The rider grasps a whip in his raised right hand, conveying dynamic movement characteristic of the Kelenderis mint's accomplished die-cutting tradition. The composition is rendered in high relief with naturalistic attention to musculature of both horse and rider. The scene fills the flan in a vigorous, confident style consistent with the finest Cilician silver coinage of the early fourth century BC. |

The animal's form is rendered with careful detail, including the characteristic beard and horn of the species. The ethnic legend ΚΕΛE–N appears in Greek characters in the field, identifying the issuing city of Kelenderis in Cilicia. The incuse technique, common to early Cilician silver issues, imparts a bold, sculptural quality to the reverse design. |
