| Beschrijving voorzijde | Pegasos, the winged horse, depicted in flight to the left with wings spread and forelegs extended, rendered in high relief characteristic of early fourth-century Corinthian coinage. The mythological creature is shown with naturalistic musculature and carefully detailed feathering on the folded wings. A small koppa (Ϙ), the archaic Greek letter serving as the mint control mark for Corinth, appears beneath the body of Pegasos in the lower field. The composition fills the flan dynamically, with the head and foreparts extending toward the upper left rim. The style reflects the accomplished die-cutting tradition of the Corinthian mint during this period. |
