Obverse description Apollo depicted in the archaic style, striding right in the nude, his right hand extended forward holding a laurel branch while his outstretched left arm supports a small running figure (daimon) in motion to the right. A stag stands in the left field before the god, its head turned back to face Apollo. The composition is rendered with vigorous Early Classical energy, the figures occupying the full flan within an incuse border.

Reverse description A stag rendered in fine Early Classical style stands to the right, its head turned slightly and its antlers prominently detailed. Before the stag in the right field rises a slender sapling or young laurel shoot with delicate leaves. The retrograde ethnic legend ΚΑVΛ appears in the upper field. The entire design is set within a dotted border on a plain field, executed in incuse relief characteristic of Magna Graecia coinage of this period.
