| Reverse description | Eagle with closed wings standing to right, rendered in confident high relief with finely incised feather detail on the folded wings and body. The bird is perched on what appears to be a rocky base or low ground line rather than a classical Ionic column, with head turned slightly upward in an alert posture. The ethnic abbreviation F-A (digamma-alpha, for FALEIOI or the Elean magistrate's initial) flanks the eagle to left and right respectively in the field, inscribed in archaic Greek characters. The composition is bold and well-centered, consistent with the prestigious sanctuary coinage struck at Olympia under Elean authority. |
