The effigy is rendered in the late Roman imperial style, with bold and confident die-cutting characteristic of the Antioch mint. A small captive kneels at his feet to the left. The composition conveys imperial triumph and the restoration of Roman order. The circumferential Latin legend RESTITVTOR-REIPVBLICAE frames the scene, and the mint mark •ANTA• appears in the exergue, identifying the first officina of the Antioch mint. |
