He is seated or standing upon a low suppedaneum, with VOT X flanking the left field and MVLT XX to the right, referencing his decennial and vicennial vows. The mint mark R M appears in the field flanking the figure, and the exergue bears the inscription COMOB, the standard guarantee of fine gold coinage. The composition reflects the late antique ceremonial style of Western imperial solidi struck at Rome. |
