The mintmark R-M flanks the central figure at mid-field, with COMOB in the exergue, indicating the Rome mint and the fineness guarantee of the solidus. The reverse legend VICTORIA AVGGG is split across the field, referencing the Augusti of the empire. The bold, linear style of the engraving is consistent with the Rome mint production of the mid-fifth century. |
