Reverse description A Byzantine-derived cross potent on steps occupies the center of the reverse, a motif inherited directly from the Heraclian solidus series and here retained in transitional Arab-Byzantine coinage. The cross is surrounded by a circular Arabic Kufic legend containing the mint and regnal date AH 76, rendered in the characteristic angular early Kufic script. A secondary inscription in the inner field or margin may include additional religious formulae. The overall design reflects the transitional nature of this coinage, blending Byzantine iconographic conventions with emerging Umayyad epigraphic and religious identity.
