In his right hand he holds a grounded long cross, and in his left a globus surmounted by a Victory who faces left; his left foot rests upon a recumbent captive at his feet, symbolizing Roman imperial triumph. The mint mark letters M and D appear in the left and right fields respectively, while the exergual legend COMOB denotes the Constantinople gold standard. The reverse legend VICTORIA AVGGG encircles the composition. |
