The border of the flan is decorated with a continuous wreath or pellet-and-arc motif typical of late Iron Age Celtic coinage. The overall style reflects the abstract, highly stylised artistic tradition of the Catuvellauni tribe. The design is known as the 'Muzzles' type, named for the distinctive decorative elements flanking the central cross. |
