Tasciovanos ruled the Catuvellauni from approximately 20 BC to 10 AD, making him one of the most powerful rulers in pre-Roman Britain and the father of Cunobelinus — the king Shakespeare loosely adapted into Cymbeline. His silver coinage marks a significant expansion of the Catuvellaunian monetary system, likely reflecting increased cross-Channel trade with Gaul and the growing influence of Roman economic practice filtering north through the tribal networks of southeast Britain. ABC 2640 is among the earlier attributions within his reign sequence.
