Whether the distinctive helmet motif reflects direct exposure to Roman military equipment or a deliberate tribal assertion in response to Roman contact remains debated among Celtic numismatists. ABC 674 is tightly concentrated geographically — findspot distribution clusters around the Chichester basin, the later site of Noviomagus Reginorum, suggesting a localized issuing authority rather than broad inter-tribal circulation.
