The Iceni occupied what is now Norfolk and parts of Suffolk, and their coinage circulated in a region that remained outside direct Roman administrative control until the conquest of 43 AD. This type belongs to the final decade before that annexation, when tribal coin production was still active and broadly distributed. The defeat of Caratacus and the rapid advance of the Claudian legions effectively ended indigenous coin striking across southeastern Britain within months.
