Obverse description Bare head of Cunobelin facing right, rendered in a Romanised Celtic style with finely detailed wavy hair arranged in layered curls. The facial features are naturalistically modelled, exhibiting clear classical Mediterranean influence. The legend CVNOBELINI is distributed around the periphery of the flan, reading partially to the left and partially to the right of the portrait. The flan is characteristically irregular, as is typical of hand-struck Celtic silver coinage of this period.
