Reverse description The reverse presents a dynamic horse or pony figure rendered in the fluid, semi-naturalistic style characteristic of Late Iron Age British coinage, moving at a gallop to the right across the field. The animal's mane is depicted with bold, undulating lines, and the limbs are rendered with stylised vigour. Below the horse, the abbreviated legend EPAT is inscribed in Latin characters, identifying the issuing ruler Epaticcus. The field above the horse is filled with linear decorative devices in the Celtic tradition. The overall design reflects the strong Gallo-Belgic artistic influence on Catuvellaunian silver coinage of the early first century AD.
