Additional information

Antedios is one of the few Iceni rulers whose name appears on coinage with enough consistency to confirm genuine authority, likely ruling in the decades immediately before the Roman client-kingdom arrangement formalized under Prasutagus. The "Sia" element in the inscription may denote a sub-tribe or regional affiliation within the Iceni confederacy — a political structure still poorly understood from the archaeological record alone.

ABC 1633 is among the scarcer Iceni attributed issues, with known specimens concentrated in hoards from Norfolk and northwest Suffolk, the tribal heartland.
