Obverse description Two interlocking squares with inwardly-curved sides dominate the field, forming a geometric star-like motif characteristic of late Iron Age Celtic coinage. Within the central interstice of the interlocking squares, the abbreviated dynastic legend 'C F' is inscribed in Latin characters, signifying 'Commios Filius' (Son of Commios). The design is rendered in a schematic, abstract style typical of the Atrebatic coinage tradition. The flan is irregular and slightly dumpy, consistent with hand-struck silver minims of this period.
