This fractional type belongs to a period of acute political pressure on the Atrebates following Caesar's two expeditions to Britain in 55 and 54 BC. Commios, the Atrebatean king who had served Caesar as an envoy before switching sides during the revolt of 52 BC, almost certainly presided over coinage production during part of this issue's date range — a detail that makes the tribal attribution simultaneously confident and historically charged.
