Beschrijving voorzijde A large amphora occupies the central field, with the sinuous tentacles of an octopus emerging from behind and around the vessel, rendered in a lively archaic style characteristic of Etruscan coinage. The amphora is depicted with a rounded body and two handles, the octopus tentacles spreading dynamically across the field in multiple directions. Below the amphora, the denomination mark X (denoting 10 asses) appears in the exergual area. The overall composition is boldly struck within the irregular flan, with the design elements filling the field in high relief.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is entirely plain and uninscribed, this being a uniface issue in which the die was applied to one side only, leaving the reverse as a flat or slightly concave blank surface, as is characteristic of early Etruscan silver coinage from Populonia.
