Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing bust of Valentinian I rendered with fine late Roman craftsmanship, the emperor adorned with a prominent pearl diadem of multiple rows of beads, his hair rendered in short, textured strands beneath. The effigy is draped in a paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder and cuirassed, with the articulated armour plates clearly visible at the truncation. The portrait conveys imperial authority through a strong, sharply defined profile with prominent nose and jaw. The encircling Latin legend reads D N VALENTINI-ANVS P F AVG, distributed around the periphery of the flan.

Beschrijving keerzijde The emperor is depicted standing facing, his head turned to the right, clad in full military attire. In his right hand he holds a labarum — a Christian standard surmounted by a cross — while his left hand supports a globe bearing the figure of Victory. The reverse legend RESTITV-TOR REIP, meaning 'Restorer of the Republic,' is distributed to either side of the central figure. The exergue contains the officina letter and mintmark SLVG followed by a dot, identifying the second officina of the Lugdunum mint.
