| Beschrijving voorzijde | Right-facing bust of Emperor Valens, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, rendered in the late Roman imperial style with finely striated hair swept back beneath a prominent pearl diadem. The imperial effigy is shown in profile to the right, with paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and visible cuirass detailing below. The circumferential Latin legend reads D N VALENS P F AVG, divided across the field, proclaiming Valens as dutiful and fortunate Augustus. The coin presents a boldly modelled portrait characteristic of the Nicomedian mint's output during the first officina period. |
