The portraiture is executed with considerable artistic refinement, the facial features displaying a serene, idealized expression characteristic of 5th-century Pontic coinage.

The inscription APIΣ and TEOΣ is divided across the upper inner field to left and right respectively, identifying the magistrate Aristeos, while the ethnic ΠEIPA appears in the exergue, referencing Peiraeeus. The bold, frontal rendering of the owl with outspread wings is a distinctive and commanding design element characteristic of this Amisene series.
