Reverse description The reverse presents a multi-line Arabic legend in bold hammered nasta'liq script, arranged in horizontal registers across the irregular flan. The uppermost lines contain the royal epithet of Shah Tahmasp I, styled as 'the just, perfect, guiding, governing Sultan, Abu al-Muzaffar Shah Tahmasp Bahadur Khan.' The lower portion of the field bears the mint name Astarabad (استراباد) and the AH regnal date 979, identifying the place and year of issue. The coin exhibits the characteristic uneven flan shape and variable die alignment of Safavid hammered silver production. The field between legends is flat and unadorned, with no additional ornamental devices.
