(Translation: Imperator Caesar Vespasianus Augustus Pontifex Maximus, Tribunicia Potestate, Pater Patriae, Consul Octavum. Supreme commander (Imperator) Caesar Vespasian, emperor (Augustus), high priest, holder of tribunician power, father of the nation, consul for the eighth time.)
Reverse description The goddess Salus, personification of health and well-being, depicted seated to the left upon a high-backed throne, draped in flowing robes. In her extended right hand she holds a patera, the libation dish used in Roman religious rites, while her left hand grasps a long vertical sceptre. The legend SALVS AVGVSTA arcs around the upper field, and the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the lower exergual area, confirming this issue was struck under senatorial mandate as was standard for Flavian aes coinage.
