She extends her right arm forward, holding an olive branch, the classical symbol of peace, while her left arm cradles a large cornucopiae overflowing with fruits and foliage, symbolising abundance. The large senatorial control marks S and C (Senatus Consultum) are placed symmetrically to either side of the figure in the mid-field. The surrounding legend PAX AVGVST frames the type, proclaiming Augustan peace, a central propaganda theme of the Flavian dynasty. |
