A winged Victory stands facing left at the centre, her wings spread behind her, attaching or inscribing a large oval shield to the trunk of a palm tree — the palm being the classical symbol of Judaea. At the base of the palm tree, a mourning female figure, personifying the defeated province of Judaea, sits in a posture of grief with her hands bound, her head bowed in submission.
