Her left hand grasps a long, vertical torch, a standard attribute of Ceres in her role as goddess of the harvest and of the underworld search for Proserpina. The reverse legend is divided, with S P Q R OPTIMO PRINCIPI arcing around the upper field and the senatorial authority mark S C flanking the lower field. |
