| 正面描述 | Diademed and draped bust of King Sauromates I facing right, rendered in a blended Hellenistic-Roman provincial style. Sauromates I ruled the Bosporan Kingdom as a client of Rome, and his coinage reflects that dependency directly — his bronzes were struck on a sestertius-weight standard borrowed from Roman imperial practice, an unusual accommodation for a nominally independent Greek-tradition kingdom on the northern Black Sea. The regnal dating on these pieces anchors them to a narrow window, making them useful chronological markers for the broader Bosporan series.
MacDonald 400/1 is the commoner of the known die pairings for this type; Anokhin 1543 cross-references it within a tightly organized sequence tied to Sauromates I's second decade of rule.
