| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of King Sauromates I facing right, rendered in a provincial Hellenistic style with finely striated hair swept back from the forehead. The effigy is set within a circular Greek legend reading ΒΑCΙΛΕWC CΑΥΡΟΜΑΤΟΥ (King Sauromates), disposed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays characteristic features of Bosporan royal coinage, combining Greek artistic conventions with local iconographic traditions. |
