Crowning the composition, the Emperor is shown in a quadriga driven at a gallop, attended by the winged figure of Victory. The exergue is plain, and the reverse field carries the senatorial authorization mark S C in the open arch passage. This reverse type is associated with the Arcus Neronis, a triumphal arch voted by the Senate, and represents one of the most architecturally ambitious reverse designs of the early imperial sestertius series. |
